Chris Higgins was named the head coach of the Wilson men’s soccer team in February of 2022. He came to Wilson after serving as the men’s soccer assistant coach at Shenandoah University in Virginia.
During his first season with the Phoenix, Higgins had Wilson in contention for a postseason bid in the CSAC Championship tournament and tied with the team who earned the final spot. In addition to that he coached two all-conference players as well as an Academic All-District selection. The following season he had two all-conference players, two Academic All-District selections, and a United East Senior Scholar Athlete Award winner with Connor Bowers.
While at Shenandoah, Higgins was involved with all aspects of the program, including recruiting and practice planning. He trained both goalkeepers and position players while helping the 2021 Hornets win their most games since 2004 and reach the ODAC tournament for the first time in program history.
Prior to his tenure at Shenandoah Higgins served as a graduate assistant at LaGrange College in 2018 where he helped the Panthers to 10 wins, the second-most in school history and doubling their output from 2017. He assisted with recruiting and training goalkeepers while at LaGrange. Higgins also worked with the Shenandoah FC Elite club team in Winchester, Virginia.
Higgins was a standout goalkeeper for North Carolina Wesleyan University, where he helped the team win back-to-back USA South regular season championships and an appearance in the NCAA tournament in 2017.
Chris and his wife Taylor reside in Chambersburg.
